Looking for something fun, creative and inexpensive to do with the kids? Why not go on a camping trip! Don’t worry, you don’t have to pack up the minivan and find a local campground to pitch a tent; you can have one right in your own backyard. This gives you the freedom to plan a camp out when the weather is good and you have the time (and energy!) to host the excursion. Plus, since you can provide all the snacks and entertainment, you can get away with spending less than it would cost to take the family to the movie theater.
There is one thing that you won’t want to camp without: the 1965 VW Camper Van Tent. Licensed and sold by The Monster Factory USA, this amazingly cool camper van is available in blue, pink and red colors, and is sold in adult and kid sizes. The tents are easy to set up and take down, and you can comfortably fit four people in the adult tent, and three kids in the kid tent. No camp out is complete without a Camper Van Tent!
Now, here are a few tips for hosting a backyard camp out.
- Set up the Camper Van Tent early. You want the kids to be able to explore the tent and get comfortable being in it. Also, it’s nice to set up the tent in the sunlight, even though the Camper Van Tent is idiot proof.
Don’t go back inside, unless you have to use the bathroom. This means that you’ll have to pack everything you need, just as if you were staying at a campsite. This makes the camp out feel “real,” and it prepares you for camping away from the home.
Explore your surroundings. Be creative with the things that are around you. Stargaze. Cook s’mores over the fire. Climb trees. Tell scary stories over a fire. There’s no doubt that you’ll be tired and want to fall asleep in the Camper Van Tent when all is over!
Keep things simple. Whether you’re camping with a family or just a few friends, you don’t need to go overboard. After all, the idea behind a camp out is to get back to the basics. All you really need to have an authentic camping experience is a large, comfy tent, snacks and food and a dash of adventure!
